Fun 5th grade writing prompts for budding authors

Hey, future writers and thinkers of 5th grade! This is a super special year for you, and one fabulous way to stretch those brain muscles is by diving into the world of writing. Let's get those creative juices flowing with some fun and thoughtful writing prompts. 

1. Create your own world: What if you discovered a brand-new planet? Dream it up! What does it look like? Who lives there? Tell us about its weather, its secrets, and anything else you can imagine.

2. The kindness surprise: Think about a time when someone was really kind to you when you weren't expecting it. How did that make you feel? Did it change the way you saw things? Share your story.

3. Blast to the past: If you had a time machine, where in the wide world of history would you visit? Why that particular time? Share what you would do on your adventure and what amazing things you might discover.

4. My amazing superpower: If you could have any superpower, what would it be? Would you fly, become invisible, or something else? Tell us why you picked this power and how you would use it to sprinkle some goodness in the world.

5. Dream school design: Let's design the coolest school ever! What classes would you have? What kind of fun activities could you do? Describe what would make your school the best one on the planet.

6. Note to future me: Imagine you're sending a letter to yourself but in high school. What would you say? Give your future self some advice or share your hopes and dreams.

7. The weirdest dream ever: Can you remember a super strange dream you had? What was it about? How did it make you feel? Take us on a journey through your dream world.

How to use these 5th grade writing prompts with your kids?
